If I receive a cellphone text photo of names and numbers in an yahoo group, how convert it into an excel file?
Q. In an election of national officers held in different localities, we have to tabulate the per-locality-election-res ult and sum up the total votes received by candidates. If a photo of the per-locality tabulation is sent to a yahoo group site, how do we set up a program (in the yahoo group site) for the photos to be "read and translated" via say, an OCR, so that the votes received by the individual candidates are automatically tabulated and summed up?

A. First of all, since this is a graphic image and not electronic text, the the OCR application will need to convert the image to text. Secondly, the converted text will not have any delimiters to tell one column of data from another. (Rows are no problem, since they automatically will have the return character.) And without seeing the actual data and how it is to be established in an MS-Excel worksheet, I can only give general information. Plus, if multiple images are to be added to an existing worksheet, that adds another layer of complication to the answer. Once the data is either pasted into a worksheet, or you open the text file as a worksheet, you will need to separate multiple values on a single Row by using the Text to Columns...… [cont.]
