Photography is the process, activity and art of creating still or moving pictures by recording radiation on a radiation-sensitive medium, such as a photographic film, or an electronic sensor. Photography uses foremost radiation in the UV, visible and near-IR spectrum. For common purposes the term light is used in stead of radiation. Light reflected or emitted from objects form a real image on a light sensitive area (film or plate) or a FPA pixel array sensor by means of a pin hole or lens in a device known as a camera during a timed exposure. The result on film or plate is a latent image, subsequently developed into a visual image (negative or diapositive). An image on paper base is known as a print. The result on the FPA pixel array sensor is an electrical charge at each pixel which is electronically processed and stored in a computer (raster)-image file for subsequent display or processing. Photography has many uses for business, science, manufacturing (f.i. Photolithography), art, and recreational purposes. Lens and mounting of a large-format camera. But in an article published on February 25 of the same year in an unknown and quite anonymous newspaper called the Vossische Zeitung, Johann von Maedler, a Berlin astronomer, used the word photography already. The word photography is based on the Greek φῶς (photos) "light" and γραφή (graphé) "representation by means of lines" or "drawing", together meaning "drawing with light". From Wikipedia under the
GNU Free Documentation License What is artistic photography and what is technical photography? Q. What does the artistic and technical side(s) of photography mean? What are some examples and types of artistic / technical photgraphy? Anyone have any websites??? Asked by unknown - Wed May 7 17:27:02 2008 - - 3 Answers - 1 Comments A. You could probably get as many different answers as people who answer. To *me* artistic photography is working to create a vision in the mind. In other words, you are MAKING a photo, not just TAKING a photo. Your intention is to create a mood or depiction of a scene that goes beyond the "normal" view. Your goal is to physically create with the photo the idea, mood, or image you have in your mind. I think of technical photography as product shots in which you are capturing the pure physical aspects of something with no vision in mind. Even documentary photography could be called technical photography as it is the capturing of moments or events without necessarily any previous thought or plan. Of course there are many very powerful,… [cont.] Answered by Steve P - Wed May 7 18:35:41 2008 What is the easiest photography business to get into? Q. I am really into photography and am studying it at degree level at the moment. I enjoy fashion photography but I am aware that this is THE hardest business to get into and it is very unlikely, with all the stiff competition, that you would become successful. What other category is, not easy per say, but generally easier to get into, with a good wage? Thanks in advance. Asked by norn_06 - Sat Feb 14 20:19:12 2009 - - 5 Answers - 0 Comments A. Easiest to "get into" is portrait and wedding (general high st. photographer). Easy as you just set yourself up - stick a few ads in papers and the like and away you go. Whether or not you get customers (and hence a "good wage") is a different matter. Fashion is fickle and the magazines tend to use people they already know, to get into it is a lot of hard work pounding the streets to the publishers/fashion houses. Same with any other type of photography which involves being published in magazines etc. Answered by Jackson P - Sun Feb 15 07:49:56 2009 In photography what's the difference between Pro shop and small business?
Q. I think Pro shop is more professional but small business is more serious in the course of photography. what's your answer? Asked by LCPL THACH - Mon Nov 30 16:31:19 2009 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments A. You are confusing the issue. A small business can be a Pro shop. The seriousness of the business is in the hands of the photographer (s) and its clients. Answered by Candid Chris - Mon Nov 30 16:43:00 2009 From Yahoo Answer Search: "photography" Photography is...
